Would you like to start learning Polish, but you don’t know where to start?  Start by checking your language level!  Why is it so important?

At what level should I start learning Polish?

KLUB DIALOGU Polish Language School for Foreigners teaches many levels.  Learning for non-Slavic speakers starts from the A0 level.  It is an important course that familiarises the student with the structure and specificity of the Polish language, the most important phrases and information that will be useful on the street, in a shop or in a restaurant.  Due to the linguistic similarity, students from Ukraine, Belarus or Russia can start from A1 level.

The next stages of learning Polish are the levels: A1 (beginner), A2 (elementary), B1 (pre-intermediate), B2 (intermediate), C1 (advanced).

How to learn Polish effectively?  Get to know the learning process at KLUB DIALOGU School

At the KLUB DIALOGU school, the learning process is divided into smaller units, known as modules, thanks to which the groups are homogeneous, i.e. students in a given group have very similar skills.

How does it look in practice?  Each level (A1, A2, B1, B2) is divided into 5 modules (e.g.: A1.1, A1.2. A1.3, A1.4, A1.5).  Learning in such a system becomes extremely effective, and students can notice significant progress.  However, this means that a placement test is not only advisable, but also necessary.  The result of the test gives a strong recommendation which Polish language course will best suit your skills.  An additional conversation with the school methodologist will precisely outline the student’s strengths as well as areas for improvement.

Benefits of learning Polish at KLUB DIALOGU

Thanks to the defined program of learning Polish as a foreign language at the KLUB DIALOGU School, the student does not incur unnecessary costs or lose valuable time as a result of inadequate group placement. In addition, you can clearly define your learning goals and the timeline for implementing them.

We warmly invite you to KLUB DIALOGU!

FILM EVENINGS – Polish Films for Foreigners

The KLUB DIALOGU school, the WISŁA Cinema and the UW POLONICUM Centre

Warmly invite you to:

PFFF: Polish Films for Foreigners

PFFF is a unique meeting with Polish cinema.  We select only those films that have received positive reviews from film critics, awards at festivals, and/or the status of a “cult film” in the eyes of Poles.

Meetings are held regularly, on the first Tuesday of each month.  The screening of the film is preceded by a short presentation of the film, and afterwards, a discussion. Movies are shown with English subtitles.

Often, the SPECIAL GUESTS are the directors or actors of the film!  PFFF meetings are a great opportunity to get to know Polish film productions, the Polish lifestyle and the mentality of Poles. Such knowledge will certainly facilitate your stay in Poland.

Join us!  Come and have a nice evening!

When: every first Tuesday of each month

Where: WISŁA CINEMA, Plac Wilsona 2 (Żoliborz)

FILM FRIDAY IS ALREADY OUR TRADITION

… and our passion! These are cyclical meetings organised for students by the Polish Language School for Foreigners KLUB DIALOGU, during which we present Polish films with English subtitles. These films are important for social, political and/or cultural reasons, and thanks to them we try to show our students the history, tradition and mentality of Poles over the last 70 years.

In 2020 and 2021, we had the opportunity to present to our students such films as ‘Corpus Christi’ directed by Jan Komasa – a film nominated for an Oscar, dealing with the issues of morality; good and evil in relation to living conditions and situations. ‘Jasminum’ (directed by J.J. Kolski) tells a mysterious and magical story, full of romance, scents, and light. In this story about monks, people, buildings and smells have their secrets. ‘Man – Woman Wanted’ – is a great comedy by the great director – Stanisław Bareja – showing the life of Poles during the communist era. ‘Vabank’ – an excellent Polish crime comedy directed by Juliusz Machulski, gives an insight into the life and urban planning of the city of Łódź in the 1980s. ‘Maids of Wilka’, directed by Andrzej Wajda, is a psychological film nominated for an Oscar in the non-English-language film category. The return of the main character to the countryside revives memories and old feelings, forcing you to reflect on your fate. ‘Wałęsa, Man of Hope’ – is a film telling the history of great political changes in Poland after 1980, which ended with the fall of communism in 1989 in Poland, and at the same time changed world politics forever …

Each time, FILM FRIDAY attracted great interest among students who were eager to participate in these meetings both at school and online. These events are a unique adventure into the past – a person from another country can better understand mechanisms and lifestyle in Poland, which greatly facilitates acclimatisation in a new country. Each screening of a film is preceded by a short overview of the background of its creation, the director’s idea and the message that the film carries with it. During these exciting meetings, we not only watch movies, but also discuss, finding similarities and differences in comparison to other countries. FILM FRIDAY is also an excellent activity within learning the Polish language, supplementing Polish courses at the school.

Join us!

Easter is another time that our Polish language school for foreigners wants to share with our students. On Saturday 13th April workshops took place at two levels, A0-A1 and A2-B1, during which we talked about the tradition of celebrating Easter in Poland and in other Christian countries. What was very interesting for everyone was our custom ŚMIGUS DYNGUS, or pouring water on Easter Monday (more on this soon). Participants also shared facts about traditions from their countries, including: Brazil, Great Britain, France, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and Vietnam. There was a lot of laughter and fun, but also some new Polish language knowledge. In addition, our students prepared Easter cards and cut coloured baskets out of paper, decorating our school with their works! Thank you!

IT WAS NOT JUST A REGULAR EVENING – IT WAS VALENTINE`S!

On Friday, 15th we hosted our Valentines event and it was, of course, a lot of fun. We first played 4 rounds of ‘blind date’ (‘randka w ciemno’) and the winners together with their match of each round went on to play other small games… the winners received a voucher of 100zł for a cafe. The voucher was cut into two pieces, however, so in order to redeem the prize, the pair has to go there together!!

We later on opened letters that we received from secret admirers that they had put in our Valentines Box during the past couple of weeks in school.

It was another beautiful event and we hope to see you all on the next one! Thank you for coming and now have a look at the pictures to see our event for yourselves!

POLISH – We make it possible –

Saturday 8th December a unique, free conversation class took place at our school. The theme of the meeting was Christmas and Christmas traditions. We shared our customs with students, and students told us about theirs. It was a great opportunity to meet each other in less formal circumstances. There was a lot of fun, but also useful knowledge. Thanks to all who came.

What’s more, thank you to everyone who made a video/photo contribution for our competition. Congrats to Alex who won!!
